Derrick and Alicia McCuller

Derrick has been fishing since he was old enough to escape to the creeks of Southern Louisiana by himself.  His grandfather was a fisherman and made his own baits while Derrick watched.  After leaving Louisiana as a young child, he grew up fishing the waters of East Texas with his dad.  Derrick joined the United States Air Force in 2003, and on his second day of basic training, his nick name became "Blue".  Blue was stationed in Misawa, Japan for about 3 years where he did some bass fishing there in his down time.  After a deployment to Iraq, Blue was stationed at Beale Air Force Base in Marysville, CA.  It was there that Blue's Baits was born, and Blue started learning how to pour simple jigs and apply basic powder paints under the apprenticeship of a local bait shop owner.  Blue made jigs and soft plastics for his own use for over 10 years, he then decided to open Blue's Baits after seeing a need for custom jigs and soft plastics for novice, passionate and tournament anglers alike.

Derrick and Alicia were married in 2008, and in 2009 he joined Alicia in Northern New Mexico, where they have lived ever since.  They are avid anglers, and enjoy being on the water in the lakes and rivers of Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado.  They volunteer as boat captains for C.A.S.T for Kids every year at Navajo Lake, as well as taking their friends and family out on the water all summer long to fish and enjoy the outdoors.
